Terms of Service

Welcome to Bored. — the gamified personal development app designed to help you stop scrolling and start living. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Bored. mobile application, website, and all related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using Bored., you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, downloading, or otherwise using Bored., you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) and that you accept and agree to comply with these Terms. If you are using Bored. on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

2. Description of Service

Bored. is a gamified personal development platform that motivates you to build healthier habits and reduce mindless screen time. Our mission is simple: Start enjoying every moment.

The Service includes, but is not limited to:

• AI-verified pushup tracking using camera-based pose detection
• Daily challenges, duels, and real-time rooms
• A social feed with posts, likes, and comments
• Learn & Earn knowledge quizzes to earn Boreds (in-app currency)
• Personal journal and diary features
• Gamification elements including spin wheels, mystery cards, and leaderboards
• A virtual currency system ("Boreds") earned through in-app activities

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.

3. User Accounts

To use most features of Bored., you must create an account. When you do, you agree to the following:

• You will provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it updated.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Each person may only maintain one active account. Creating multiple accounts to exploit rewards, challenges, or leaderboards is prohibited.
• You will notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for an extended period.

4. User Conduct

Bored. is all about building each other up. To keep our community positive and fair, you agree not to:

• Harass, bully, intimidate, or threaten other users.
• Post or share content that is hateful, discriminatory, violent, sexually explicit, or otherwise offensive.
• Use bots, scripts, or any automated means to access the Service, complete challenges, or earn Boreds.
• Cheat, manipulate, or exploit bugs in challenges, duels, leaderboards, or the pushup tracking system.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.
• Distribute spam, malware, or any unsolicited promotional material.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service.

We take violations seriously. Depending on the severity, consequences may include warnings, temporary suspension, permanent bans, and forfeiture of earned Boreds.

5. Content & Community Guidelines

All users must follow our Community Guidelines, which outline the standards of behavior and content expected within the Bored. community. The Community Guidelines are incorporated into and form part of these Terms.

Violations of the Community Guidelines may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination at our sole discretion. We encourage all users to review the full Community Guidelines to understand what is and is not permitted on the platform.

6. Virtual Currency ("Boreds")

Boreds are the in-app virtual currency you can earn by completing pushups, challenges, quizzes, and other activities within the Service. Here's what you need to know:

• Boreds have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash, gift cards, or any form of real currency.
• Boreds are non-transferable. You may not sell, trade, gift, or otherwise transfer Boreds to another user or third party.
• Boreds are non-refundable. If your account is terminated for a violation of these Terms, any accumulated Boreds will be forfeited.
• We reserve the right to modify the earning rates, redemption options, and overall value of Boreds at any time.
• Boreds do not expire and will remain in your account for as long as your account is active and in good standing.

Think of Boreds as your personal progress tracker — they represent your dedication, not a financial asset.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to the Bored. name, logo, design, text, graphics, animations, AI models, quiz content, gamification mechanics, and software — are owned by Bored. or its licensors and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

You retain full ownership of any content you create and submit (see Section 8 below). Using Bored. does not transfer any of our intellectual property rights to you.

8. User Content

Bored. allows you to create and share content, including journal entries, feed posts, comments, profile information, and challenge submissions ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. However, by posting or sharing User Content through the Service, you grant Bored. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

Your private journal entries are treated with extra care. We will not share, display, or use your private journal content for any purpose other than providing the journaling feature to you, unless required by law.

You are solely responsible for the User Content you create. Do not post anything you would not want to be publicly associated with. We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

9. Camera, Video & Audio Consent

Certain features of Bored. require access to your device's camera, microphone, or both. By using these features, you explicitly consent to the following:

• AI Pushup Detection: Our pushup tracking uses TensorFlow.js-based pose detection that runs entirely on your device. Camera data is processed locally in real time and is never transmitted to our servers, stored, or shared with third parties.
• Video Rooms & Duels: Live video rooms and duel sessions use LiveKit for real-time video and audio streaming between participants. These streams are not recorded or stored by Bored. and exist only for the duration of the live session.
• Profile Photos: You may use your device camera or upload an image to set a profile photo. Profile photos are stored securely and displayed within the app.

When your camera or microphone is active, a visible indicator (camera preview or status indicator) is displayed on screen at all times. You can revoke camera, microphone, or photo library permissions at any time through your device settings. Revoking permissions may limit your ability to use certain features of the Service.

10. Health Disclaimer

Bored. includes physical activity features such as AI-verified pushup tracking using camera-based pose detection. Please read this section carefully:

• The Service is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new exercise routine.
• Our AI-based pushup tracking is designed for general fitness motivation. It does not assess your physical condition, form safety, or health risks.
• You exercise entirely at your own risk. Bored. is not responsible for any injuries, health complications, or adverse effects that may result from physical activities performed while using the Service.
• If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, physical limitations, or concerns about your fitness level, please consult your doctor before engaging with physical challenges on Bored.

Listen to your body. Take breaks when you need them. Progress at your own pace — there is no rush.

11. End User License Agreement

By using Bored., you agree to the terms of our End User License Agreement (EULA), which governs your license to use the application software. The EULA is incorporated into and forms part of these Terms.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bored. and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of Boreds, loss of goodwill, or any damages arising from:

• Your use of or inability to use the Service.
• Any unauthorized access to your account or personal data.
• Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the Service.
• Any bugs, errors, or inaccuracies in the Service, including the AI pushup tracking system.
• Any physical injury or health issue resulting from exercise activities performed in connection with the Service.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us (if any) in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

13. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your account data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Cheating or using automated tools to gain an unfair advantage.
• Engaging in harassment, hate speech, or other harmful behavior.
• Operating multiple accounts.
• Attempting to exploit, hack, or compromise the Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, and any accumulated Boreds will be forfeited. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property, and Disclaimers) will remain in effect.

14. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting the updated version within the app or on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you — such as through an in-app notification or email. Your continued use of Bored. after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should discontinue use of the Service and delete your account.

15. International Users

Bored. is available to users worldwide. The Service is operated from Romania, European Union, and these Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Romania and applicable EU regulations.

We respect and comply with local consumer protection laws applicable in your jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms shall affect your statutory rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.

16. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service, we encourage you to first attempt to resolve it informally by contacting us at contact@staybored.app. We will make reasonable efforts to resolve any dispute within 30 days.

If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, either party may pursue mediation before initiating any legal proceedings. If mediation is unsuccessful, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts in Romania.

EU Users: You retain all mandatory consumer protection rights under the laws of your member state. Nothing in this section limits your right to lodge a complaint with your local consumer protection authority or to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

17. Accessibility

Bored. is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users. We strive to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards and continuously work to improve the user experience for everyone.

18. Force Majeure

Bored. shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation under these Terms where such delay or failure results from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, war, terrorism, pandemics, power outages, internet service disruptions, or other force majeure events.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed from these Terms, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced with a valid provision that most closely reflects the original intent.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, End User License Agreement (EULA), and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bored. regarding your use of the Service.

These documents supersede any prior agreements, understandings, or representations, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein. No waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such provision or any other provision.
